Golf New Brunswick’s (Golf NB) 2018 NB Ladies Provincial Championships will take place July 8th to 10th, 2018 at the Miramichi Golf & Country Club. The 2018 NB Ladies Provincial Championship will see the 54-hole competition include 87 ladies in the field. The amateur division has 7 participants, the mid-amateur has 9 while the senior has 32 and the super-senior has 39.
Defending NB Ladies Amateur, Mid-Amateur, and Senior Champion Leanne Richardson of Country Meadows Golf Club looks to keep herself at the top of all three divisions again this year, however it will not be easy. In the race to capture this year’s Amateur Championship is Miramichi’s own Morgan Matchett who looks to build off of her 2017 T-4 performance to win her first ever NB Ladies Provincial Championship at her home club.
2017 NB Super-Senior Champion Kris Harvey of Fredericton returns to the field in Miramichi to try and repeat her performance and capture the championship for a second consecutive year. It won’t be an easy task for Harvey however with fierce competition in the field especially from her Fredericton club mates Kathy Meagher, Connie Bothwell, and Penny Dickeson who finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in last year’s event.
In addition to the four provincial championships, also up for grabs are positions on both the NB Ladies Amateur and NB Ladies Senior Teams, along with an exemption into the Mid-Amateur division at the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship, to be played at Marine Drive Golf Club in Vancouver, BC from July 24th to 27th, 2018, and the Canadian Women`s Mid-Senior Championship, to be held at Lookout Point Country Club in Fonthill, Ontario from August 28th to 30th, 2018.
With a strong field at this year’s event that includes many past champions and perennial contenders, the 2018 NB Ladies Provincial Championships will be sure to test the endurance of the province’s best lady golfers over the three-day tournament.
