Golf New Brunswick Announces 2024/2025 Junior Development Team

Golf New Brunswick (Golf NB) is proud to introduce the 2024/2025 Junior Development Team (JDT), an elite training program designed to support and develop the next generation of junior golfers in New Brunswick. This program provides specialized opportunities for young athletes to refine their skills in the off-season through a structured training program, including both virtual and in-person sessions from November to April.

Under the guidance of Golf NB Provincial Coaches Jean-François Richard and Carrie Vaughan, the JDT serves as a stepping stone for junior golfers looking to elevate their game. The program not only complements ongoing coaching but also offers development opportunities for athletes who may not currently have a personal coach. The training regimen is designed to enhance technical skills, mental performance, and physical conditioning, preparing participants for high-performance competition.

Golf NB is thrilled to host monthly in-person training sessions at The Riverside Country Club, one of New Brunswick’s premier golf facilities. This access provides an invaluable opportunity for junior golfers to develop their skills in a high-performance environment. Golf NB extends its sincere appreciation to The Riverside Country Club and its members for their generous support in fostering the growth of junior golf in the province.

In addition to technical training, JDT athletes benefit from expert instruction in mental performance and golf-specific fitness. The team has worked with Simon Taylor from Taylored Mindset (tayloredmindset.com) to enhance their mental game and Matt Forgie from For Fitness and Athletics (forfitnessandathletics.com) to improve their physical conditioning for golf.

“The Junior Development Team (JDT) is another important initiative that was necessary in order to create a more comprehensive developmental pathway for our aspiring junior players,” said Jean-François Richard, Golf NB Provincial Coach. “Along with the newly formed NB Junior Golf League, the JDT is a great addition to Golf NB’s programs, helping us not only to initiate new players to tournament play but also to create a better support system for our developing competitors.”

Golf NB would like to extend its gratitude to the Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic for providing funding opportunities to make this program possible. A special thank you also goes to Philson Ltd. for their commitment to supporting junior golf in New Brunswick. Their contributions help ensure that young golfers in the province have access to top-tier training and development opportunities
