2016 Champions: The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds set a record as the first team to claim all four titles in the tournament’s 14-year history.

Eight out of 10 past champions have since turned professional following their respective wins.

Course Facts:

The Toronto Golf Club
Established in 1876 and is the third oldest golf club in North America. Harry Colt designed the course and it was recently updated by Martin Hawtree.
Hosted the Canadian Open five times (1905, 1909, 1914, 1921 and 1927).
2017 will mark the ninth time the Club has hosted the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship (the highest of any club).
Islington Golf Club
Established in 1923 and was designed by Stanley Thompson.
Partnered with Golf Canada in 2010 and opened their practice facilities for PGA Professionals during the 2010 RBC Canadian Open.
Hosted the Golf Ontario Men’s Amateur in 2008
Hosted the Canadian Seniors Golf Association tournament on several occasions, most recently in 2016

Championship Facts:

2016 Amateur Champion: Hugo Bernard (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, QC)
Bernard was the first Canadian to win the championship since Mackenzie Hughes claimed back-to-back titles in 2011-12.
2016 Willingdon Cup Champion: Team Newfoundland and Labrador
This was Newfoundland and Labrador’s first national team title at any level.
Champion receives an exemption into the 2018 RBC Canadian Open and the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship.
