Included in Landry’s pairing is Sam Reid of the Royal Oaks Golf Course. Reid is the reigning NB Junior Boys champion hosted at the Gage Golf & Curling Club this past week. Reid is also a member of Team New Brunswick in both the Canadian Junior Boys Championship and the 2017 Canada Games, being held in Kingston and Winnipeg respectively. Also included in the pairing is Darren Roach of The Riverside Country Club. Roach is the 2010 champion of the men’s amateur event, and the 2012 mid-amateur champion.
Also in the field is the two-time mid-amateur champion (2009 & 2010) and reigning back to back mid-master champion Edward Reevey of The Riverside Country Club. Included in Reevey’s pairing is the 2015 NB Junior Boys Champion, Corey McMinniman of the Fredericton Golf Club, and the 2017 East Coast Junior Boys Champion, Stuart Earle of the Westfield Golf & Country Club.
Included in the deep field is the 2014 and 2016 NB Junior Boys Champion, Calvin Ross of JH Sports at Kingswood. Ross was a Team New Brunswick member at the 2015 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship, and will be competing for Team New Brunswick twice in August at both the Canadian Junior Boys Championship as well as the Canada Games.
This will be the third time since 2004 that the Sussex Golf & Curling Club has hosted this great event. With one of the strongest fields to date, this year’s competition will be sure to be exciting and competitive through until the very end. This four round tournament will test the endurance of these great golfers and will bring out the best of the best come Sunday afternoon.
